Georgia O'Keefe

So I've been trying to decide what color I wanted to paint the kitchen because the color we chose for the whole condo (beacon gray (bluish-gray)) doesn't really go with the kitchen cabinets/counter top. Since it's one of the smaller rooms we didn't focus on making the colors match. I think I've decided that a deep orange would work really well -- our cabinets are brown (not too dark and not light) with a grantite counter top that is mainly black with flecks of brown and grey in it.

I've been grabbing any magazine related to home decorating from work (they're free, don't worry I'm not stealing) and I came across this article about choosing paint colors from your favorite paintings. They had a Georgia O'Keefe painting, Ram's Head and Hollyhock, (she is one of my favorites) and they had pulled out this beautiful orange color. So I think I've definetly fallen in love with and decided on orange for the kitchen. I'm thinking about getting a nice large O'Keefe print to go in the kitchen too... though I haven't discussed that with Tom yet. :) But I think it's a great painting and I was thinking that the orange would be good to do like a mexican theme.... any thoughts? Other ideas? Does anybody care.. ?

This is the painting; Ram's Head and Hollyhock

Sounds so fun being able to pick everything out! I like your living room theme with the grey/blue, and I love the idea of having something vibrant in the kitchen. Save the calming colors for the living/sleeping areas I say! :)
Mexican theme in the kitchen? I never thought of you as one to go for a mexican theme. I suppose it depends on what kind of mexican. There's the tex-mex with the aquas and oranges and then bright primarys mexican. I like the idea of basing it around a painting, I really love her flowers. I am not much into dead animal skulls- but hey, that just my opinion. Over all it sounds great! Fun you get to take your time on it! I will have to hire you for my place when I get one!

This blog is amusing, I dig it. It's corny, and it rather immasculates thomas, but hey, I love it nonetheless.
